HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics is a developer and manufacturer of a wide range of miniaturized, high-precision optical components and sub-assemblies. One of the key competences which is fundamental for the fiber-optic components is the packaging and assembly of optical sub-components, such as collimators, optical interference filters or photo detectors.
Over the years Cube Optics has continued to develop multiple patented, innovative packaging technologies using ultra-precision micro-injection molding as one of the core manufacturing technologies.
HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics was founded in 2000 based on a revolutionary idea to miniaturize passive optical multiplexing. In 2001 the original Color Cube was presented to the world and was more than 100 times smaller than the average passive optical multiplexers available at the time. The miniaturized multiplexer paved the way for the first 100G LR4 transceivers and 95% of these transceivers worldwide used the Color Cube. Since then, HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics continues to make the impossible possible when it comes to miniaturizing optical components.
In addition to these special "miniaturized" components, the Cube Optics portfolio also includes all kinds of standard sized, high-quality components such as full range of CWDM and DWDM components, couplers, switches and PLC splitters to name a few.
Passive optical multiplexing is one of the most efficient and cost-effective ways to minimize the number of fiber connections required to transmit high bandwidth signals. This technology has been used for optical transceivers for many years now and is becoming increasingly important for PCB designs with extreme data rate connections.
However, with the increasing data rates, the size for an optical multiplexing component is having to be smaller and smaller. HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics has set a new benchmark for high precision, miniaturized optical multiplexers.
